OK Rat đ babies, you are next!
Just like how rats (the animal) are nimble, agile, aware of their surroundings, and sharp-sensed, Rats tend to be detail-oriented, thoughtful, and observant. They also tend to be naturally talented in the arts, food/drink, anything that has to do with numbers, and law.
Rats are one of the four signs that have the strongest peach blossom luck in general, so they tend to make really good friends. When it comes to love though, they have to conduct themselves carefully to avoid problems.
They may have the tendency to nitpick and be suspicious of people, which can result in stressing themselves out. If they can learn not to sweat the small stuff, to relax, and not to assume that people have bad intentions, they will be a lot happier.
Your sign clashes with this yearâs ruling entity, which may bring about change, often in relationships, your living situation, and especially for Rats this year, in your career. Thus, itâs a great year to move house, change jobs, departments, companies, or even change industries if you were planning to do those things anyway. It is a great year for effecting change in your life.
This particular type of clash is a head-on collision, and its effects can be hard to predict - in some cases, people may come out on top with some really great things happening. In fact, many government officials take office in years where they have this kind of head-on collision. But also, it can mean that things are not as straightforward, that your endeavours may require a few rounds of rerouting or re-trying before you can attain your goals.
Those who clash with the year are generally advised to go to their place of worship to ask for a blessing. Traditionally, Chinese people will go to a temple (of any kind - Buddhist, Taoist, local folk temple, etc.) and make a monetary offering to the yearâs ruling entity, which is believed to protect luck (or at least put a cushion between themselves and bad luck). Iâve never been myself, and many astrologers assert that going to whatever house of worship you believe in and feel good in will do the trick, especially if you pair the request for a blessing with a monetary donation if possible.
Note that lunar year clashes tend to be a bit easier on people who had tough childhoods, especially before the age of 16. So if in early life you had to contend with poverty, difficult family situations, illness, or other major challenges, clash years actually wonât affect you that deeply.
On the flip side, people who had more comfortable or secure childhoods, where they had good support, loving families, and their families never had to worry about paying the bills - clash years will hit them harder. In that case, they should probably visit their place of worship to get blessed.
Generally, Spring and Summer Rats need to be conservative and lay low this year.
For those who might be looking for a new home to RENT this year, try to find one where the main entry (of your unit, or the house) faces southeast or northwest.
For those looking to BUY a new home, the interior is more important than the direction of the door. In that case, try to find a place where the entry of the kitchen or the entry of a bathroom doesnât directly face a bed, especially the head or the middle of a bed. However, homes where bathroom entries are across from a childâs bedroom or a study will bring good interpersonal luck.
Rats especially may keep dragon or monkey-shaped things or imagery around them for good luck - keychains, phone wallpapers, bag charms, jewellery, etc.
Itâs a year for power and status elevation - this plus the clash means thereâs a better than usual chance for promotions for those climbing the corporate ladder.
Really great lucky star this year, the Moon Space star, which helps you overcome obstacles and bad situations, and dampen the effects of negative stars.
Thereâs also the Tang Talisman star, which is named after an item people used in ancient times to ward off evil energy. Translated to today, this star may bring a sense of righteousness to you, inspiring you to help people in need and to fight evil corporations/people. This is especially beneficial to people who work in certain areas of law, advocacy, and social work. But for other people, this means theyâll have to be extra careful if they do stick their neck out for someone, to avoid creating chaos. Additionally, this star can bring a lot of imagination and inspiration. If they channel it well, Rats can create great art or bring on excellent innovations, as long as they have the discipline to execute on their ideas.
Rats also have excellent âmouth luckâ this year because they have the Heavenly Kitchen lucky star in their court, which in Chinese astrology means thereâs lots of good food coming your way and/or great progress in your cooking skills. This also brings good luck to those in the food & beverage industry, hospitality (moreso restaurants than accommodations), and in the health food industry.
Basically, there are two approaches that Rats can employ for 2026. The first is to be super low key, to just let the year pass, and to not initiate any change - just let things happen and go with the flow; some would say this is especially suitable for Spring/Summer Rats. The second approach is to welcome all the change possible to every facet of your life, especially if you know change is coming for you anyway, whether you like it or not. If youâve been unhappy, if youâve been thinking of switching things up, or if youâre a Fall/Winter Rat, this may be a good way to go. Either way, just try to minimize risks this year. You should play defense.
During a clash year, you need to protect your energy, which means avoiding going to places that might make you sad or consuming media that is depressing. Like, hold off on reading sad history books for another year, or if the news is getting you down, make sure you balance it out with plenty of comedy.

Great year to fall in love, get married, or have a kid, but if none of those things are in the cards for you i.e. youâre already in a committed relationship, watch out for conflicts with your partner, especially in Lunar Months 5 and 11; Rats in long-term relationships need to prioritize harmony, try to avoid arguments, and quickly resolve them if/when they occur
A few astrologers emphasize that is a really, really great year to add to the family, be it a furbaby or a child, be it the old fashioned way, via adoption, or with the help of modern medicine (i.e. IUI or IVF).
With your clash, you may be more prone to interpersonal drama, so navigate relationships at work and within distant family carefully. You may be more impulsive this year (a.k.a. you may find it harder to control your temper), so be careful with how you interact with the people you love, and avoid saying things you will not be able to take back.

Fall/Winter Rats are advised to take advantage of their year of change and the fire year and go after new opportunities with vigour, especially if they are looking for a change, and especially if they feel that things have been relatively stable or even positive for the past couple years.
Spring and Summer Rats are advised to lay low and maintain a low profile this year in terms of work - just keep your head down and work hard. Opportunities may come if you prove yourself, because:
Thereâs a decent chance of promotion for all Rats in general; Fall/Winter Rats may explore if the promotion comes from a different company, but Spring/Summer Rats are better off staying at the same organization if possible, and trying to get promoted within their current firm.
There may be some challenges at work - you may feel like nobody understands you - so be careful about how you interact with colleagues and avoid friction/outright conflicts. If you can manage your interpersonal relationships well, it will make work much, much smoother.
You may also find that there are a lot of problems that you need to resolve this year - many fires to put out at work.
Self-employed and unsalaried Rats are advised to attend as many industry and charitable events as possible to make connections.
Big Spend star, as the name suggests, may bring about large and often unexpected expenses - it comes with signs that clash with the year in this specific way. You may want to splurge on something youâve been wanting, or go on a longer vacation, in order to turn it into âspending happy moneyâ.
Another great way to protect your luck and go along with the Big Spend star is to do some repairs or renovations or maintenance in your physical home, if youâre not going to move. Maybe beautify a room, switch out some large appliances or large furniture or mattressâŠmaking a bigger change to your home will also protect the health of elders in your family. (Eating vegetarian or vegan meals with the intent of protecting oneâs eldersâ health is also a popular strategy.)
Health
Heavenly Weep star may bring about unstable emotions and make you more teary-eyed/prone to crying than usual - you may want to decrease the odds of crying from bad things happening by consuming tear-jerking books or media, namely ones that are touching or heart-warming (as opposed to sad, because you have a clash this year). This star may also bring issues to your eyes, so take extra good care of them.
People are more prone to accidents and injuries during clash years, so be extra careful when it comes to your physical safety - do voluntary bloodshed in Lunar Months 5 and 11, and drive especially carefully during those months. Because of this and because of your head-on clash with the yearâs energy, you should also avoid activities that involve high velocities or high impact, like rollercoasters, bungee jumping, skydiving, skiing, water skiing, diving, etc. Basically, avoid any dangerous activities.
Hands, arms, and back more vulnerable to injury/accidents this year - be careful when doing activities that place a heavy burden on those body parts.

2026 is a year of exertion that comes with payoff, which primarily affects those who arenât retired yet - likely the minority of 1948 Rats. Those who are retired are advised to make plans and get out of the house as much as possible, but respect your limits.
This year is for relaxing and self-care. Focus on your physical well-being first and foremost, give yourself plenty of rest, try to recover from previous ailments, and work on maintaining your strength.
You are the least affected by the direct clash, compared to your fellow Roosters.

Your temper may be quicker this year - in general you may tend to have a more urgent energy this year, and therefore less patience. This may bring familial strife, especially in relation to younger generations. Laidback year for you; better than usual chance of coming across Champions and helpful people in general.
Need to stay active, even if youâre retired - must maintain regular physical activity to keep problems at bay.
Those who are not yet retired should take the year to take it easy and do late-stage planning, perhaps planning for retirement - think of how you want it to go, when you want it to happen, what you want to accomplish before then, and how to get all your ducks in a row so that youâre in the best position possible when youâre ready.

Power and status elevation most likely for 1972 Rats, which means great chances for promotion. Dig deep and go after those opportunities with everything youâve got, make a big push to set yourself up for the next several years of your career.
Self-employed 1972 Rats need to get their names out there as much as possible to take advantage of this momentum.
You might be challenging some long-held, deep-seated beliefs this year, to the extent that you might demolish old ways of thinking and establish completely new ones. Evolving personally is a good goal this year.
Be careful of sharp objects, as you may be more prone to injuries from metal/pointy things this year.
You specifically have two types of clashes with the year, which means your luck will be the most volatile compared to your fellow Rats.
Pay extra close attention to your health and to that of elder family members. Be mindful of your blood pressure, heart health, and other âcity ailmentsâ. The two main areas of focus for Wood Rats this year are making choices, and balance. Youâll need to make choices for your future this year, or choices that will affect your future directly, and it will not be easy. You may be in a situation where you have to choose between two options. Regardless of how that manifests itself, make sure you choose very carefully. Gather all the information you can, be honest with yourself, and donât rush it.
Money-wise, you need to carefully manage your income vs spending this year. Donât try to knock the lights out - aim for a steady, stable year, and donât spend beyond your means.
Luck tends to be more volatile around the 40th lunar birthday and for a few years afterwards. Youâre at the tail end of that now - congratulations on surviving the past few years. Calmer currents are in sight!

Avoid being indecisive this year. Try to take the pressure off yourself this year. When you have too many goals - especially too many stretch goals - you will only exhaust yourself and be less productive in the long run.

(Which is not the case every year! Sometimes we might work as hard as we can and not get much out of it. Thatâs not the case for you. You get what you give this year, both in school and/or professionally.) This is also the time to widen your horizons, gain exposure to new things and new ways of thinking, and develop your mind. Try something new. Even if you do something completely unrelated to what you studied, it will be very enriching.
You may be itching for freedom, but donât be in a rush to leave home or to be independent of anyone you count on for now, personally or professionally. Understand that with your current level of experience, striking out on your own may be overwhelming and not as easy as you imagine.
Manage yourself as best you can - your health, your studies, your work if youâre working, your personal development. At this stage, you will benefit the most from studying hard and/or absorbing as much knowledge as possible; work on developing your mind and your ways of thinking.
